Too Busy To Blog
One thing that really used to bug me in the work world (there were many), was the people who used the familiar rant of 'I'm too busy.' You know the ones - always seemed to have time to chat, or eat out for lunch, yet when it came to work - too busy! Now I find myself in the uncomfortable place of saying that for the last month and a half I've been too busy to blog! Seems God always brings the imperfections I'm so quick to find in others back to haunt me!
What a whirlwind the last few weeks have been. Yesterday, after a month of hurry up and do things while we wait, we moved my 82 year old mother into a retirement home. There's an experience I won't be forgetting for a long time. Actually, it truly was a memory maker. There was the initial decision to make the move; selling her house; clean-sweeping what was left; packing, packing, packing; endless road trips with my sister to make sure everything would be perfect for mom and oh yes - the move! There's nothing like moving your mother to bring a family together. We are so blessed to have mom in a wonderful place that she is already happily calling home. My sister says it looks like she's been living there for years. Our prayer is that she feels save, comfortable and loved in her space.
That's only one of the many things that's been going on in my life that made blogging slide to the back burner. One day, I actually got so far as to sit down to write a blog and couldn't find the site to create my content. With my techi-husband away, it just wasn't going to happen. So close, yet so far!
So here I am now, blogging when I really should be going to bed. Tomorrow will be a 6am start as we juggle vehicles to ensure everyone gets to work on time. Me - I have to make a stop at the dentist first to have a temporary crown. One more trip to the dentist next week and several hundred dollars later, I'll have matching gold crowns on my lower molars. That's another thing that has sucked up my time.
Then there was the mini speaking circuit I went on in mid May. In three days I spoke in Leamington, Chatham, Windsor and Sarnia. My husband Peter and I actually made a little mini vacation out of it. What a wonderful, fun time we had together. Speaking is a gift for me, so I'm not nervous or anxious before I speak. That made for a relaxed adventure for us as we got a chance to spend some precious time together. God is so creative!
I could go on and on about all the antics in my life over the last little while, but then again, we all have life to deal with, don't we? As time becomes more and more precious, I strive to eek out those quiet moments with God - to read a wonderful devotional every day, to contemplate our pastor's Sunday message, to do my best to keep myself right with God and be a blessing to others.
This blog's challenge - go out in the busyness and be salt and light in the midst of it. When things get crazy, stop and connect with the one who created busyness and thank Him for the multitude of opportunities I have to share my gifts, time and talent with others. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
